Jim Hu and his family had a hunch when they brought their brand of Chinese food to San Antonio a decade ago that the then 10 th Largest city in the country was ready to support authentic Hunan cuisine.

They were right. For the second year and a row, San Antonio Express-News readers have proclaimed that the Hu brothers' Taipei Chinese Restaurant serves the best Chinese food in town.

After they emigrated from Taiwan in the 1980's Jim Hu and his brothers, Howard and Mike, worked with their family in Houston and Kerrville for several years before settling in San Antonio . They have since split their business interests from that of their extended family.

The brothers' Taipei Restaurant at 2111 N.W. Military Hwy. in Castle Hills
proved so successful that three months ago they opened, another on at 18802 Stone Oak
Parkway .

"We specialize in good food, very clean environment, and good service at reasonable prices," Jim says.

Triple Delight is one of the menu favorites. It's shrimp, chicken, and beef served with mixed vegetables.

"It's very hot and spicy, Jim says, adding that another favorite is shrimp or chicken prepared with sautéed scallions. "That's a very popular choice from the appetizer section of the menu."

"All of the management knows how to cook. My brothers and I are in the restaurant every day. That's why we have quality control," he says.
